Enbridge donated $10,000 to the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana to support food assistance to individuals and families facing hunger in the Region. “Enbridge exists to fuel people’s quality of life in the communities where we live and work”, said Cindy Finch Community Investment Advisor.

The generous gift comes as the Food Bank of NWI is increasing capacity and operations to serve the increased need as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To address the growing need, the Food Bank has adjusted operations to provide food for those who need it most such as seniors and displaced/unemployed workers.  Emergency assistance operations have evolved to include:

  • Senior Food Box Deliveries to seniors that are at highest risk, shut in, lack transportation, or don’t qualify for any type of government assistance.
  • Drive Thru Only Mobile Market Food Distributions
School Site Mini Mobile Market Distributions for families with children who were on free/reduced lunch
  • Targeted Mobile Market Food Distributions for Displaced/Unemployed Individuals in hospitality, retail, etc.
  • Mini Mobile Market Distributions with several bulk items
  • And more

“The gift from Enbridge is right on time, as the need for food assistance is expected to increase over the next few months”, said Victor A. Garcia, Executive Director. “We will be right there to ensure that food is one less worry for families”.
