PORTER COUNTY, Ind. — A Northwest Indiana law group is carrying on their annual Thanksgiving tradition by giving out 1,200 dinners.

Attorney Ken Allen and his law group, based in Chesterton, started giving out Thanksgiving dinners in 1994.

Distribution to 1,200 families begins on Friday in Chesterton, at 502 Allen Court, and then Saturday at the Foodbank of Northwest Indiana in Merrillville.

Each meal contains a whole turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables and a fruit or pumpkin pie.

Distribution was coordinated through the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana.

“Thanksgiving should be a joyful time for all. But sometimes families face real hardship, and that’s especially true now with the high cost of food,” Allen said. “We’ve been blessed at Allen Law Group to be able to give back to the communities we serve, and we’re happy to help so that more families can enjoy a healthful and happy Thanksgiving meal together. But we sure couldn’t do it without the capable assistance of the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana.”
