40TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY – OPEN HOUSE

The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana is celebrating 40 years of “Nourishing Our Neighbors” in February. We invite you in to walk with us through the past, present and future of our work to strengthen the region through our hunger relief efforts.

You’ll have an opportunity to talk to our CEO about the vision to provide long term sustainability for food insecure individuals. See the recent renovations to our warehouse, increasing capacity and service to the community. Meet our programs team and talk through the variety of ways that we serve our neighbors. See the behind the scenes of food coming in and going out of distribution center.

THE SOUPER BOWL

Join us for the annual Souper Bowl on February 6th! This soup sampling competition will feature 20+ soups, local vendors, raffles, and Super Bowl Squares. THE SOIREE: WHO DUNNIT

Join the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana at The Soirée, our premier event to raise funds for children, seniors, and other individuals and families facing hunger in Northwest Indiana. The Soiree Who Dunnit features a murder mystery element – bring your detective game and solve this mystery! RIDE THE REGION

September 3 | 9am – 12pm | Food Bank of Northwest Indiana |foodbanknwi.org/ride

On Saturday, September 3rd, motorcycle riders from all over the Region will ride 80 miles throughout the streets of Northwest Indiana to raise awareness and funds for individuals facing hunger. The Ride will begin and end at the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, 6490 Broadway, Merrillville, with kickstands up at 10am, followed by an end rally celebration.  The cost of $25 per rider provides 75 meals for hungry individuals and families (also includes tshirt, wristband, and entry into end rally celebration). THE HUNGER HIKE

September 17 | 9am – 12pm | Lake County Fairgrounds | foodbanknwi.org/hike

Walk, run, or bike with the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana on Saturday, September 17th, at the Hunger Hike! Create a team with your family, friends, and coworkers to raise awareness and funds to provide meals for individuals and families facing hunger. Children 12 and under are invited to participate in our obstacle course, games, and more. 

Individuals who raise $250 or more will be recognized as one of our 2022 Hunger Heroes. Benefits include leading the walk, a Hunger Hero sweatshirt, and special day of event recognition.

HALLOWEEN MONSTER DASH

October 22 | 4p -7p | Off Square Brewing |foodbanknwi.org/halloween

Join the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana on Saturday, October 22nd for a 5k run, beginning and ending at Off Square Brewing. Come dressed in your best Halloween costume and sprint past the spirits at the Halloween Monster Dash. #GIVINGFOODSDAY

November 29 | 9am – 3pm | Food Bank of Northwest Indiana | foodbanknwi.org/givingfoodsday

#GivingTuesday, or in our case #GivingFOODSDay, is a movement that inspires people across the world to give back in their own communities. We invite corporate teams from across the Region to join the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana on this global day of giving.
We are inviting your corporate teams to take a day out of your busy schedule to volunteer and help address hunger right here in the Region. Join us for #GivingFOODSDay on Tuesday, November29th at 6490 Broadway, Merrillville. Your corporate team will have an opportunity to sort and pack food boxes that will later be distributed during a special “Hope For The Holidays” Mobile Market Distribution, serving approximately 1,000 families. Your team will:

Choose one of our 2 time slots (9am – 11am or 1pm -3pm).
Wear company logo gear (a team photo will be part of the day).
Wear masks and agree to COVID-19 safety precautions.
Consider making a team/company donation to the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. Just $1 provides 3 meals for individuals and families struggling with hunger.
Share your photos from the day and tag the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana using #GivingFoodsDay.

PACK TO GIVE BACK (FOR FAMILIES) – CHRISTMAS

December 8 | 4pm – 6pm | Food Bank of Northwest Indiana | foodbanknwi.org/pack

Spend time as a family helping the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana pack groceries and meals for children. There are more than 25,000 children in Northwest Indiana facing hunger, and we want to ensure that they have food for Christmas. In addition to the joys of giving back, the evening will include refreshments, games, crafts, music, and more.  There will also be family photos with Santa. The cost of the event is a donation of any amount. Preregistration is required.  COVID-19 safety precautions will be enforced.
