The Souper Bowl

February 5 | 1pm – 3pm | Food Bank of Northwest Indiana |

The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana invites you to the annual Souper Bowl on Sunday, February 5th, from 1pm-3pm.
This soup sampling competition is packed full of fun!  The afternoon includes squares for the big game, local vendors and a
Half-Time Show with live music by Underground Prophets!
All proceeds will support hunger relief programs and services throughout Lake and Porter Counties.  Each attendee will be given a token to vote for their favorite soup. And if you donate two non-perishable food items, then you’ll receive an extra token to vote for your favorite soup.

Bread for the World:  Advocacy 101

March 21|1:30pm-4:30pm| Food Bank of Northwest Indiana

Join us on Tuesday, March 21st from 1:30pm-4:30pm at the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana for Advocacy 101 training provided by Bread for the World. Registration is required.  Admission to this educational training event is a donation of your choice.

In this three-part presentation, learn what it takes to end the scourge of hunger and malnutrition. Explore the systemic issues that contribute to food insecurity, and learn what you can do to change them.


David Miner, Lead Team Chair, Bread for the World Indiana – Dave helped found and run Indy Hunger Network. He is the former Board Chair of Bread for the World, and of the Alliance to End Hunger.

Grace Kozak, Bread Indiana Organizer – Grace’s experience includes organizing for Clean Water Action, The American Cancer Society, and Central Christian Church.



The Soiree

May 8|6pm-9pm| Food Bank of Northwest Indiana

Join us for a lively evening on Monday, May 8th at the Food Bank to celebrate hunger relief advocate, Congressman Frank J. Mrvan and raise funds for families, seniors, and children facing hunger in Northwest Indiana. The Soirée also features live entertainment, a silent auction, mystery bags, themed raffles, and tastes from the best local chefs, restaurants, and breweries.

Thursdays, June 15 – August 10 | | Deep River Waterpark |

We have teamed up with the Deep River Waterpark to assist us in keeping our food drive donations rolling in while at the same time saving their customers money.  Through these efforts, they aim to provide 15,000 meals to our neighbors in need.

The Food Bank promotion starts THURSDAY, JUNE 15TH and continues every Thursday through THURSDAY, AUGUST 10TH.

Here’s the offer:

Bring in 2 cans of non-perishable food on any Thursday starting June 16th and continuing through Thursday, August 11th and you’ll receive $5.00 OFF your regular admission price (10a-6pm or 2p-6p).  $3.00 OFF for those under 46″ tall.

Note: The offer does not apply to already discounted rates, group rates, and hotel packages.  BUT it is applicable with IN Discount, Senior, and under 46″.  Every person must have 2 cans to receive the discount.


Ride The Region

August 12|9am-12pm| Food Bank of Northwest Indiana

On Saturday, August 12th, motorcyclists from all over the Region will ride throughout the streets of Northwest Indiana to raise awareness and funds for individuals facing hunger.  The police-escorted poker run will begin and end at the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, with kickstands up at 10am followed by an end rally celebration from 12pm-2pm, featuring music, raffles hotdogs, hamburgers, drinks, & more!

The cost is $25 per rider (includes t-shirt, wristband, and entry into end rally celebration). Register today online at or in-person the day of the event.



Hunger Hike

September 23|9am-12pm| Food Bank of Northwest Indiana

Join the Food Bank on Saturday, September 23rd  from 9am-12pm at Lake County Fairgrounds for the Hunger Hike, our walk, timed 5k run, or bike to raise awareness and funds to provide meals for individuals and families facing hunger. Participants can create a team with family, friends, and coworkers, and enjoy the walk, timed run, or bike, kids area, games, upbeat music, sponsor booths, and more! Bread for the World:  Advocacy 200

October 9| Porter County Community Foundation

Join us on Monday, October 9th at either session: 9am-noon or 1pm-4pm at the Porter County Community Foundation for Advocacy 200 training provided by Bread for the World. Registration is required.

In this follow up training to Advocacy 101: Changing the systems, we will take a deeper dive into how organizing is used for systems change. Also, we will go over the organizing tools we can use to make change happen, with time for practice with these tools. Having taken Advocacy 101 will provide helpful background for this class, but is not required.

Holiday Workshop: A Family Packing Event

December 7|4pm-6pm| Food Bank of Northwest Indiana

Spend time as a family helping the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana pack groceries for families and children. There are more than 25,000 children in Northwest Indiana facing hunger, and we want to ensure that they have food for the Holidays. In addition to the joys of giving back, the evening will include: photo with the Santa, refreshments, games, crafts, music, and more!
