Cleveland – Cliffs followed up 2021 giving with another major contribution in 2022 of $210,000.  “The impact of these funds is profound, to have support of this magnitude two years in a row ensures our daily operations is possible.  So much couldn’t happen without it.” Amy Briseno, VP Development & Communications, explains.  “The teams as the Burns Harbor and East Chicago locations are active year round too in fighting food insecurity. Their food and fund drives are massive projects!  The dedication of this corporate partner and their initiatives to invest in the care of our community is inspiring.”

A significant highlight of the 2022 funding is $36,000 was specifically ear-marked and used to support the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana’s Partner Agency Network. Through Hunger Hike in September, partner food pantries and soup kitchens fundraise alongside the Food Bank to maximize their purchasing power.  Cleveland – Cliffs backed the incentive program of this fundraiser for the agencies, so that they could even further expand what they earned.  Across Lake and Porter Counties, in neighborhoods and communities served by the network and the Food Bank directly, the power of this level of giving by Cleveland – Cliffs was felt in 2022, rippling beyond and setting up 2023 for hope and success.
