Recently, the ALDI USA distribution center in Valparaiso, participated in the company's annual disaster food box packing event. This collaboration with Feeding America is part of a long partnership with ALDI, and this year's disaster packing was activated across all of their distribution centers in the country. Key Figures from Map the Meal Gap 2024 (2022 data) Background Map the Meal Gap (MMG) is Feeding America’s annual study on local food insecurity and food cost. The 2024 release features data as of 2022, the most recent year available. The USDA reported that nationally, food insecurity remained stable or decreased in 2020 and 2021, but the situation shifted in 2022 due to rising food prices and the continued expiration of COVID-19 pandemic assistance. Food Bank of Northwest Indiana Receives $450,000 from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation to Continue ‘Food as Medicine’ Program

The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana received a $450,000 grant from the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation, a philanthropic arm of Elevance Health Foundation, to continue the ‘Food as Medicine’ program.
