$240,000 Raised for Community Strong Emergency Relief Match

One month ago, the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana was issued a challenge, inspired by the generosity of Civic Leaders, Tom Sourlis and Sue Eleuterio. Charged to raise matching funds of $125,000, the Food Bank reached out to YOU, our NW Indiana community for help. Knowing the impact that these funds would have on our struggling neighbors during this critical time, YOU responded to help us far exceed the goal. Lake County Foundations Unite To Provide $12,500 for Emergency Food Assistance

       Through a united effort to provide emergency food assistance, Legacy Foundation, Foundations of East Chicago, and Crown Point Community Foundation presented the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana with a $12,500 grant award. The contribution will support new programming focused on serving community members most affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. This includes: Targeted Mobile Market Food Distributions for Displaced/Unemployed Individuals in the restaurant, hospitality, and retail industries, experiencing immediate loss of income. NextEra Energy Resources Contributes $10,000 for COVID-19 Response

The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana is pleased to announce a $10,000 contribution from NextEra Energy Resources, through the NextEra Energy Foundation. The funds are part of an overall $1.5 million gift of COVID-19 emergency assistance from the NextEra Energy family of companies for partner organizations across the country. Lake Area United Way Contributes $20,000 To Address Food Insecurity Among Special Needs Individuals

The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana received $20,000 from Lake Area United Way to address food insecurity among special needs individuals.  The Food Bank will work in partnership with TradeWinds to provide "Pantry Pack", a monthly grocery delivery program specifically for individuals with special needs.   "We have 50 clients who struggle with food insecurities during any given month. Indiana National Guard Supports the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Governor Eric Holcomb has deployed the Indiana National Guard to help six food banks address the growing need for food assistance. “The food banks are in Marion County (2), Bloomington, Lafayette, Fort Wayne & Merrillville. The Indiana National Guard will work at mobile food distribution sites across the State”, said Governor Holcomb.
